Broken Doll

She strolled into the hall

This broken doll

Her much-awaited return

She smiled so brightly

Beaming hope

Hardly showing a scratch or burn

My name she gently called

This broken doll

Her life no more a disguise

She told me her tale

Still, I stood

To hear the sadness in her eyes

She began with her fall

This broken doll

Her past was a tragic war

She showed me her wrists

Unashamed

Pale silken skin beneath the scars

She had torn down her wall

This broken doll

Her escape into the light

She’ll never go back

Now she’s free

To never be lost in the night.
